In the following extract from the The Brecon Radnor Express dated 14th June 1917, Owen's age is given as 32, in fact he was 37 years old.
Killed in Action.
KNIGHTON SOLDIER'S SACRIFICE.
News was received at Knighton on Saturday to the effect that Pte. Owen Langslow, 47th Canadian Regiment, was killed in action in France on the 30th ult. Private Laugslow, who was 32 years of age. was the third son of Mrs Langslow the Rookery, Knighton, he joined the Canadian Army at the outbreak of war and was wounded about six months ago. Much sympathy is felt with the bereaved relatives.
Although Owen is entered as being in the 47th Battalion he was killed whilst serving with the 62nd Battalion. This was due to the high death rate and the 2 battalions being amalgamated.
On the Canadian Great War Project site Owen's date of birth is given as January 5th 1881. He was actually born on 1st May 1881. The confusion arises due to the date being entered as 01/05/1881. The Canadians along with the USA arrange their dates Month, Day, Year.
