Knighton Boy Falls IN ACTION IN FRANCE.  It is with deep regret that the news was received, last week, by the inhabitants of Knighton that Pte. Arnold Evans, 9th R.W.F., was killed in action on July 31st. Pte. Evans, who was just over 20 years of age, joined the forces a few weeks after the outbreak of war, and had been in France for the past twelve months. He was the only remaining son of Mr and Mrs C. Evans, Station Road, with whom (as with the other relatives) very deep sympathy is felt.

The paper has given the name Arnold, this was probably misheard, as his name was Arnol.

If you take a look at the dates of death of the sons of Charles you will see that at least one died after Arnol. I think what the paper was trying to say is, Arnol was the only remaining son of the then Mr & Mrs C Evans - Charles and Emma.

Arnol had a younger brother, William Garnett. William was a jockey, he died while riding in a race at Epsom in 1905. His story can be seen here
