The Brecon Radnor Express - 23rd September 1915
An interesting letter has been received by Mr Turner, Knighton, anent the death of Pte. W. Turner (his grandson) from the commander of the platoon in which be served. We. give some extracts :- "I am very sorry to learn that your grandson has succumbed to his wounds. I was hoping that he was not badly wounded, for he was very cheerful when he was hit. He had been in my platoon ever since he joined the first battalion at Cambridge, and was very painstaking in his work and always thoroughly to be trusted. As I daresay you know, your grandson had taken up machine gun work and was in the reserve section. He will be very much missed by his comrades in C Company, and not least of all by myself. Please accept my sympathy in your very sad bereavement. Believe me, yours very truly, GEOFFREY P. LLOYD."
