The Mermaid Inn

 

This Inn was in Church Street and is only ever mentioned once in connection with the sale of the Red Lion.

 

Hereford Journal - 10th June 1829

HEREFORDSHIRE AND RADNORSHIRE. VERY DESIRABLE PROPERTY. To be sold in Auction, By THOS. ROGERS, At the RED LION INN, in the Town of KNIGHTON, in the County of Radnor, on Thursday the 11th day of June, 1829, at Four o'clock in the Afternoon, subject to Conditions of Sale;

Lot 5. All that Old-established INN, called the RED LION INN, situate in a very convenient part of the Town, and in full Business, having very roomy Fold-yards, Stables, and Outbuildings, in a good state of repair, and a large Garden adjoining, now in the occupation of Mr. Samuel Passey.

Lot 6. All that MESSUAGE or Dwelling-House, formerly an old-established Inn, called the Mermaid Inn, together with the Tenement, Gateway, and Rooms over; and also the Shops, Offices, and Outbuildings, Fold-yards, and Garden annexed, adjoining the last-mentioned Lot, now in the occupation of Messrs. Thomas Cheshire, Thomas Watkins, Richard Jones, William Monington, and Thomas Meredith.
